Surface accumulation of candidiasis manifests as white plaques
covering gastrointestinal mucosa
Candidiasis is an infection of the
esophagus by candida albicans. The esophagus in this specimen has been opened to
reveal the lumen. Note the yellow/green papules scattered over the mucosal
surface.
