superficial muscles

The muscles of the back can be broken down into three groups:

bulletsuperficial - muscles that act on the upper limb
bulletintermediate - muscles of thorax
bulletdeep - muscles of vertebral column

There are 5 pairs of muscles in the superficial layer (rhomboids3 are deep to the trapezius>:

bullettrapezius
bulletlatissimus dorsi
bulletrhomboid major
bulletrhomboid minor
bulletlevator scapulae
